Fuji-san (color) is printed from sketches I made while traveling through Japan in the winter and spring. These small scenes reflect the calm, and moments inspired me along the way. This sketch comes from the moment I finally understood why Mt.Fuji is so special. I had seen Fuji-san many times before--on social media, from airplanes, and from the bullet train--but I had never slowed down and spent time with it in person. When I finally did, I realized that photos don't quite capture its presence. There was something calming and powerful about simply sitting and looking at the mountain. This piece is inspired by that moment appreciation.
